Coming off the holiday season and into the cold month of January, communities across Georgia are no exception as our neighbors are reaching the end of their savings and desperately need help. Your donations throughout the past year and through the holidays have been greatly appreciated, but there is still more work to do and more help to give as we head into 2014.
As we have continued to experience hard economic conditions now for consecutive years, unemployment, homelessness, and hunger remain high in Georgia. Now, more than ever, I ask that you will give generously to The Salvation Army. Every day, we are feeding the hungry and providing shelter to those that need it, and it’s help from people like you that makes that possible.
Here’s some of what we hope to accomplish this year:
• Provide grants for rent, utility assistance, medicine and food for more families in desperate need.
• Visit lonely, hurting people in nursing homes and correctional facilities― perhaps the only visits they’ll receive this year.
• Provide more than meals to hungry men, women and children here in Georgia.
• Give disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience summer camp at Camp Grandview in Jasper, GA.
Needs are growing, and we must continue to do more. Please consider donating now or learn other ways you can be a shield in your community.
