Annual Christmas Campaign Helps New Families
That is why our units in Georgia are looking to loyal and new donors to contribute much needed funds by year end so we will be able to meet the expected needs ahead. We know it is attainable if we all do our part and pitch in to help our neighbors who need a hand.
There are plenty of ways for you to help from monetary donations in our kettles or online to volunteering your time to providing toys and gifts for deserving children during this season. So please do what you can. Read more on how you can help...
National Retailers Partner for Christmas Giving
The Salvation Army's red Christmas kettle is an icon that is recognized by people all over the country. It is a sign of Christmas cheer and hope to many that The Salvation Army is addressing the challenges of people in need, not only during the season of giving but all year long.
In this 2008 holiday season, The Salvation Army has established partnerships with several national vendors to increase donations by neighbors like you who want to share their own blessings with others. The following is a list of retailers who have eagerly offered space for Salvation Army volunteers to solicit donations to the Red Kettle, Angel Tree, and other holiday programs: BJ's Club Stores, Pepsico, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Target, Neiman Marcus, Hallmark Cards, Kroger and its subsidiaries, Hobby Lobby, Walgreens, Denny's, Bloomingdales, and Macy's.
You will find our kettles at hundreds of retail outlets who have graciously allowed us to seek your support at their stores. Please take a minute and thank the managers where you shop and drop in your gifts as you pass a kettle or give online. We will live up to our promise and do the most good with your contributions as we help our fellow Georgians in need. Thank you.
"TargetLists" Places Bull's-Eye on Homeless Shelters for Christmas
Target offers The Georgia Division of The Salvation Army for the 2008 Christmas season a program called "TargetLists" that serves as a wish list for communicating some of its most pressing needs. It allows shoppers who would like to buy items that support families in homeless sheters an easy way to do so in the convenience of their homes or wherever they have internet access.
One of the greatest needs this year is providing bed linens for homeless families. Shoppers can simply visit Target's website at www.target.com/nicetwice and do an advance search for our organization's list name, The Salvation Army-Georgia-GA, to locate the wish list for these families. Making an online purchase for these families is quick and easy. The Salvation Army will ensure that those in the most need receive their linens after shipping.
Target and The Salvation Army greatly appeciate your supporting this new endeavor.
For total single guest purchases from the wish list that exceed $249, Target may share the following with The Salvation Army for tax purposes: 1) name, 2) address, 3) items purchased, and 4) cost of the items.
